Kelpi welcomes HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh

It was a pleasure to welcome HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh to Kelpi last week as part of her visit to Science Creates to meet with Deep Tech startups tackling the world’s biggest challenges.

Hugo Adams and Stefanie Federle explained to The Duchess the innovation and science behind the Kelpi seaweed-based material, as well as demonstrating its unique barrier properties to replace plastic packaging using entirely natural feedstocks.

Hugo and Stef also had the opportunity to show Her Royal Highness some of the specific product applications currently under development at Kelpi for some of the world’s leading brands, delivering recyclable, biodegradable packaging solutions across the food, drinks, personal and homecare sectors.

The Duchess also attended a STEM workshop with local primary school students led by Kelpi’s Molly McCarthy in Science Creates Outreach’s Learning Lab as part of their mission to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
