Kelpi wins twice at prestigious Entreconf awards

Kelpi came home a double winner this week at the EntreConf 2023 awards - established to “highlight exceptional entrepreneurialism” in the SouthWest. The team collected the winner’s awards in both the Science and the Sustainability categories in the ceremony in Bristol.

Judges in the Science category set out why Kelpi was chosen as a winner with the words: “A defining year for Kelpi saw £3m seed funding to create its own lab space for R&D, attracting top-tier talent and increasing sales. Close to limitless opportunities.”

And in the Sustainability category, where Kelpi also came home a winner, judges said: “Kelpi’s rising ambition prompted contracts from global cosmetic, high-end supermarkets, and coffee brands on reducing plastic use. Work includes unique development of high-performance material from seaweed.”

Kelpi CEO and co-founder Neil Morris said: “We’re honoured and delighted to have been selected for our leadership in both science and sustainable technology from such a fantastic array of companies. The awards recognise what the whole Kelpi team of scientists and entrepreneurs has achieved towards replacing the scourge of single-use, fossil fuel plastic packaging with a truly sustainable alternative.”
