Kelpi’s new kilo-lab facility
Kelpi has always focused on rapid prototyping, agile approaches to meeting client requirements, so we were reluctant to build an in-house scale-up facility that would take production from the gram-scale of the lab to the next stage of taking our product to market. But it was only as we started to build and now put into operation our ‘kilo-lab’ that we realised the full benefits.
Our new kilo-lab isn't just about production; it's a hub of innovation. This facility allows us to fast-track our materials development roadmap by closely integrating production and applications testing. Tighter, more efficient feedback loops enable us to quickly iterate on our designs, test new formulations, and bring cutting-edge products to market faster than ever before. This accelerated development process ensures that we can meet the evolving needs of our packaging partners with groundbreaking solutions.
Beyond enhancing production and accelerating development, our kilo-lab brings significant cost savings. Previously, we relied on subcontractors for kilo-scale synthesis, which often involved high costs and longer timelines. By moving production in-house, we've reduced these expenses and can now deploy our resources more effectively.
And finally, investing in our kilo-lab facility underscores our commitment to sustainability and innovation. We believe the future of packaging lies in environmentally friendly, renewable materials that don't compromise on performance or cost. Our seaweed-derived biomaterials are set to replace single-use plastics across multiple industries, contributing to a cleaner, greener planet.
We're excited about the opportunities our new kilo-lab presents. It embodies our dedication to continuous improvement and our vision of a world where sustainable materials are the norm, not the exception.
