Science Minister Lord Vallance visits Kelpi
UK Science Minister Lord Patrick Vallance visited Kelpi’s Bristol labs today to learn more about the company’s world-leading technology and the development of an alternative to fossil fuel plastics in food and drinks packaging.
Lord Vallance, visiting Bristol this morning for the Regional Investment and Health & Life Sciences Summit, came to Kelpi’s main R&D lab this afternoon to see first-hand the innovation behind our unique seaweed-based coating for paper and card that matches or even exceeds the performance of many fossil-fuel plastics.
The Minister of State for Science, Research and Innovation was shown around the lab by Kelpi’s CTO Dr Georgios Gkotsis and CEO Neil Morris, who said: “This was a wonderful opportunity to showcase to the UK’s top scientist some of the brilliant innovation developed here in Bristol to address the challenges of climate change”.
Part of Kelpi’s mission is to engage key stakeholders from Government, industry and science around our goal to eliminate single-use plastic packaging. Today’s visit was a chance to go deeper into the science that underpins Kelpi as a deeptech.
